With the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) services now available on the eCitizen platform, the process has become simpler and more user-friendly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you apply for an interim driving license through the eCitizen portal.
Create or Log into Your eCitizen Account
- Visit the eCitizen Portal: Open your web browser and go to the eCitizen website.
- Log In: If you already have an account, enter your ID number and password to log in. If you’re new, click on “Create an Account” and follow the registration instructions.
Access the NTSA Services
- Navigate to NTSA Services: Once logged in, scroll through the available services and select “National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA)”.
- Select Provisional Driving License: In the NTSA dashboard, find the option to apply for a Provisional Driving License and click on it.
Fill in the Application Form
- Personal Information: Provide your full name, date of birth, and contact details.
- Medical Fitness: You need to self-declare your medical fitness. Ensure you meet the health standards required for driving.
- Upload Documents: If needed, upload any required documents, such as a passport-sized photo and a copy of your ID.
Make Payment
- Payment Options: The portal will direct you to the payment section. You can pay using mobile money (e.g., M-Pesa), debit/credit card, or through a bank. You will pay a total of 3050/=
- Confirm Payment: After completing the payment, make sure you receive a confirmation receipt. This receipt is important for tracking your application.
Submit the Application
- Review and Submit: Double-check all the information you have provided to ensure accuracy. Once you are satisfied, submit your application.
- Application Confirmation: After submission, you will receive a confirmation email or SMS with your application reference number, which you can use to track the status of your application.
Download the Interim License
- Processing Time: The NTSA typically processes the application within a few days.
- Download: Once your application is approved, you will receive a notification. Log back into your eCitizen account, navigate to the NTSA services, and download your interim driving license.
